Terms of Service

1. Service Description

VeilDoc is an AI-powered PDF redaction tool that helps you find and protect sensitive information in PDF documents. The Service includes AI-powered detection of sensitive data, manual redaction controls, batch document processing, and clean PDF export. The specific features and usage limits available to you depend on your subscription plan.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age to use the Service. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.

3. Account Registration

To use the Service, you must create an account through our authentication provider, Clerk. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us immediately at support@veildoc.com if you suspect any unauthorised use of your account.

4. Subscription Plans & Billing

VeilDoc offers multiple subscription tiers, including a free plan with limited usage and paid plans with higher limits and additional features. Current plan details and pricing are available on our Pricing page.

• All payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your payment card details.
• Paid subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis (monthly or annually, depending on your chosen plan) and will automatically renew unless cancelled before the end of the current billing period.
• Prices are displayed in the applicable currency on the Pricing page. You are responsible for any taxes applicable to your subscription.
• We reserve the right to change our pricing with reasonable notice. Any price changes will take effect at the start of your next billing cycle.

5. Free Plan

The free plan is provided at no cost with limited usage allowances. We reserve the right to modify the limits or features of the free plan at any time. The free plan is intended for individual, non-commercial evaluation of the Service. We may require you to upgrade to a paid plan if your usage exceeds the free plan limits.

6. Cancellation & Refunds

Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you will retain access to paid features until that date.

Refunds: No refunds are provided for subscription fees already charged. Upon cancellation, your access to paid features continues until the end of the current billing period.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use VeilDoc to:

• Upload documents containing malware, viruses, or malicious code
• Attempt to circumvent usage limits, security measures, or access controls
• Process documents for the purpose of concealing evidence of illegal activity
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service or its AI models
• Use the Service in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations
• Resell, sublicense, or provide the Service to third parties without authorisation
• Deliberately overload or disrupt the Service infrastructure
• Use automated scripts or bots to access the Service outside of approved integrations

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if we reasonably believe you have violated this policy.

8. Your Content & Documents

You retain all ownership rights to the documents you upload to the Service. By uploading documents, you grant us a limited, temporary licence to process those documents solely for the purpose of providing the redaction service to you.

• Documents are processed in memory and are not persisted to disk after processing is complete
• AI detection runs server-side; your documents are never used to train AI models
• You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload and process any documents you submit to the Service.

9. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, features, AI models, code, and documentation, is owned by VeilDoc Ltd and is protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks, logos, or brand features. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on the Service without our prior written consent.

10. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy & Security Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information. By using the Service, you consent to our data practices as described in that policy.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure. While our AI detection is designed to be highly accurate, we do not guarantee that all sensitive information will be identified. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying all redaction suggestions before exporting your documents.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, VeilDoc Ltd shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or business opportunities arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our total aggregate liability for any claims arising under these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless VeilDoc Ltd, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.

14. Account Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if we believe you have violated these Terms, or for any other reason with reasonable notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. You may also delete your account at any time through your account settings. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including but not limited to intellectual property, limitation of liability, and indemnification) shall survive.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page and updating the “Effective date” at the top. For significant changes, we may also notify you via email. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

16. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
